Keidrick Jackson Earns AFCA All-America Honors

Midwestern State's all-time leading rusher, senior running back Keidrick Jackson, added another honor to his growing list of accomplishments as he was named to the American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches All-America Team on Tuesday.

Jackson, a 5-9, 210 pound senior from Arlington, Texas/Bowie, rushed for 1,177 yards with 15 touchdowns in leading the Mustangs and the Lone Star Conference in 2013. He became just the eighth player in Lone Star Conference history to rush for over 4,000 yards as he finished his career with 4,004 yards was MSU's all-time leading scorer with 62 touchdowns and 372 points.

Jackson joins Franklyn Quiteh of Bloomburg (Pa.) as the two running backs on the 25-member team.

Jackson is one of three Lone Star Conference players selected to the AFCA squad. West Texas A&M senior quarterback Dustin Vaughn and Texas A&M-Commerce junior defensive tackle Charlie Tuaau were also named to the team.

Jackson becomes Midwestern State's third selection to the prestigious team. Offensive tackle Amini Silatolu, now of the Carolina Panthers, was named to the team as a junior in 2010 and as a senior in 2011.

The AFCA team is the only one of the All-America teams that is selected solely by the coaches.

Midwestern State finished the season 7-3 in 2013.

Carter Earns LSC Weekly Award

Midwestern State junior forward Andrea Carter was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office for her strong play in the Mustangs only game last week.

Carter led the Mustangs in their 73-60 win over East Central (Okla.) last Saturday. She collected her third double-double of the year with her 15 points and 10 rebounds against the Tigers in Midwestern's only contest last week due to final examinations.

Carter connected on 6-of-7 shots from the field and hit all three of her free throw attempts. Her .857 shooting from the floor was the highest allowed by East Central this season. She also snagged a steal in the contest as the Mustangs held East Central to their third-lowest scoring output this season.

Carter becomes MSU's first basketball player selected as a Lone Star Conference Player of the Week this season.

Joining Carter this week is offensive player of the week Rosalie Cutri of Texas A&M-Kingsville. On the men's side, Texas A&M-Kingsville's Jorda Jahr was picked the offensive player of the week, while Angelo State's Kenny Williams was the defensive player of the week.
