New restrictions for the use of fireworks will go into effect on Friday.

On Monday, the Wichita County Commissioners Court voted to support the proposal.  Judge Woody Gossom plans to sign the order at 12:00p.m. on Friday.  It will only last until 12:00a.m. on December 22nd unless the governor extends it.

The new restrictions include the following:

Five gallons of water must be available on site as well as other extinguishers.

Someone over 18-years-old must be present to spot possible fires.

Fireworks may not be used in brushy areas or if winds are 20 miles per hour or greater.
