Help Being Offered for Texomans Signing Up for Health Insurance

Posted: Updated:

The Community Healthcare Center in Wichita Falls has two Certified Application Counselors on site to help Texomans sign up for health insurance on the Affordable Care Act website,

Navigating the website and getting the right plan can be confusing. The Certified Application Counselors are there to help assist and answer questions.

"There have been some walk-ins. We've had appointments and calls. People are reaching out to us to get it taken care of. We help them from start to finish, in the middle, anywhere we can help them," said Certified Application Counselor Rhea Wineinger.

The Application Counselors have received five hours of official training, attended seminars and a two day training session from the State Association.

"We also do weekly training with numerous organizations to keep updated," said Certified Application Counselor Stephanie Knisley.

Both Knisley and Wineinger are available weekdays by appointment and by walk-in.

The Community Healthcare Center also has an outreach program where businesses and organizations can request Knisley and Wineinger to visit, and answer health insurance related questions.

With the deadline to sign up fast approaching, Texomans looking to be insured should sign up quickly.

"The longer you put it off, your effective insurance date goes further into 2014," said Wineinger.

"If you need help, we are here to help," said Knisley.

To be insured by January 1, the deadline to sign up is December 23. The overall deadline to be insured and avoid a fine is March 31.
