Zevnik, Farmer Honored as Wildcats Sweep Weekly Awards

The sweeps keep coming for the Wichita Falls Wildcats, as David Zevnik was named the South Star of the Week in the North American Hockey League's Easton Divisional Stars of the Week. Nick Farmer also earned recognition for his efforts, as he was named the division's second star of the week.

Zevnik was named the South Division Star of the Week after posting two wins to help Wichita Falls post its first-ever sweep of the Amarillo Bulls. The Lakeville, Minn.-native made 68 saves on 71 shots faced over the two games, giving him a 1.50 goals against average and a .958 save percentage on the weekend.

The first-year netminder has now won five-straight starts dating back to the Wildcats' 2-1 shootout win over Rio Grande Valley on Dec. 7. In 20 games played this season, Zevnik is 13-4-1 with a 1.76 GAA and a save percentage of .932. He joins Jordan Jancze, Chase Munroe and Will Vosejpka as Wildcats who have earned top weekly honors during the 2013-14 campaign.

Farmer garnered Second Star honors after notching two goals and an assist in the Wildcats' 4-2 win against the Bulls on Dec. 20. It was his third three-point outing of the season thus far, and leaves him with nine goals and nine assists for 18 points in 30 games played.

The Wildcats are next in action on Jan. 3, when they travel to Topeka to start the second half of the season with a two-game series against the Roadrunners.
