New Murder Trial Date

The District Attorney’s Office in Clay County said a man behind bars accused of murder will have a new trial set for sometime in April.

In August 2013 jurors deliberated for 10 hours in the case of Justin Green, but a mistrial was ruled when they couldn’t come up with a unanimous decision on a verdict.  Green admitted to killing Jose Ramirez in 2007, but said it was in self defense.  He met the victim while he was serving in Fort Sill.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers found his remains in February 2012.  Ramirez was buried in a shallow grave at a property just southeast of Petrolia.
