MSU's Blackburn Earns LSC Weekly Honors

Midwestern State's Xavier Blackburn garnered Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors as released by league officials Monday afternoon.

The 6-4 forward from New Iberia, La. erupted for his first double-double of the season notching career bests of 17 points and 16 rebounds Wednesday against Oklahoma Wesleyan.

Blackburn just missed his second double-double of the week finishing with 15 points and nine rebounds in Saturday's LSC opening win over one-loss Texas A&M-Commerce.

The transfer from North Dakota State Science averaged 16.0 points and 12.5 rebounds for the week while shooting 55.6 percent from the field to go along with three blocked shots and two steals.

Angelo State's Tommy Woolridge gained top offensive honors after connecting on five 3-pointers to finish with 19 points leading the Rams to a 75-70 exhibition win Saturday over UTEP. The Rams (10-2) did not play an official regular season contest during the reporting period.

Midwestern State takes on rival West Texas A&M Wednesday night as part of the First United Bank Highway 287 Challenge Cup series at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
