Thousands of dollars with of oil field equipment has been stolen from two separate oil leases in Electra.  Authorities said the man responsible is behind bars.

Wichita County Sheriff’s Deputies said they arrested William Roy Smith on January 3rd after an oil lease employee reported the theft the day before.  Electrical wire had been taken from three pump jacks at the Swanson Oil Lease and the same items were stolen from another oil lease owned by Swanson.  Authorities said Smith took the wiring to t a recycling shop.

He is in the Wichita County Jail, charged with several crimes including Theft of Regulated Metals.  His total bond has been set at $67,000.
