Charge Amended To First Degree Murder

Posted: Updated:
A Lawton man accused in a deadly shooting this past summer has had his charges amended.

Klayton Kitchens was originally charged with manslaughter in connection to the May 2013 shooting death of 26-year-old Christopher Moore.  That charge was then raised to First Degree Murder because the District Attorney’s Office believes the crime was premeditated.

Investigators said the 23-year-old admitted to killing Moore during an argument, but he claims he feared for his life and shot Moore in self defense.

Under the new charge, if he is convicted he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
