When To Get Vaccinated

Posted: Updated:
According to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, yearly flu vaccination should begin soon after they become available.  This is usually in October.

However, getting vaccinated later can be protective as long as we are still in flu season.  Even though outbreaks can happen as early as October, the CDC said most of the time influenza activity peaks in January or later.  Since it takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body that protect you against the virus, it’s best to get vaccinated so you are protected before in starts spreading in your community.
