Throckmorton's Reed Heading to Hamilton

Two-time state champion Throckmorton football coach Mike Reed is making the jump to 11-man football, as he will be named head coach at Hamilton High School in central Texas.

Reed went 70-8 in six seasons at Throckmorton, winning state championships in 2011 and 2012.

Overall, his 6-man record is 132-19, but now he will be making a big jump to the 2A level at Hamilton.

The Bulldogs, who are currently in Class 2A, will remain in the newly-renamed Class 2A in the next realignment, with a snapshot number of 205 making them one of the larger 2A schools in the state.

They finished 1-9 in 2013, but won six games each of the previous three seasons and defeated Henrietta in the 2010 bi-district round.

Reached for comment Wednesday night, Reed told Newschannel 6 he will be speaking to Throckmorton ISD administration Thursday morning and would be able to say more later in the day.
