Burkburnett Accepts Big Water Grant

The Burkburnett City Commission met Monday night to take action in accepting a grant to help the city's water system.

Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the Texas Community Development Block Grant. It will help needed and urgent repair of the Burk water system. That money comes from the Texas Department of Agriculture, and will be put to good use.

"Burkburnett was awarded the Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $275,000," said Burkburnett Assistant City Manager Michael Whaley. "That will enable us to increase some undersized water mains and increase the fire protection within the community."

The City of Burkburnett will pay $27,500 for administrative costs to go along with that grant.
