Bowie Police Chief Fired

Bowie's Police Chief has been relieved of his duties. City Manager Ricky Tow confirms Bowie Police Chief David Scruggs was let go last Thursday. He had served as chief since the 1990s.

Tow said there is an ongoing investigation, but he cannot discuss it due to the legal issues.

The chief's duties will temporarily be shared between Lieutenant Guy Green and Support Services Commander Lynetta Slaton. Scruggs' Human Resources duties will be taken over by Carrie Polhemus.

Tow said the city council will discuss the personnel issue at its February 4th regular meeting.
