Attempted Child Abduction At SAFB

Posted: Updated:
Sheppard Air Force base was on lock down briefly Thursday evening due to a credible report of an attempted child abduction near the base Youth Center.

Sheppard Security Forces locked the gates and conducted a base-wide sector sweeps based on the description provided of the suspect who attempted the abduction.

After thorough sweeps and vehicle searches, no individuals matching the description of the suspect or vehicle were found.

Base officials want residents to be on the lookout for the individual or vehicle that matches the description of a Caucasian about 6'1" tall, possibly with a bruised lip, wearing a white jacket with gray sleeves, white pants and hat, or driving a small black car with a rear yellow license plate.

Security Forces will continue to conduct heightened patrols, and have issued a Be On the Lookout Order.
