Sheppard Alleged Attempted Abduction

Posted: Updated:

Sheppard Air Force Base is still searching for an alleged child abductor. Security forces at the base were made aware of the alleged attempted child abduction near the SAFB Youth Center on Thursday afternoon.

"Last night just before 5 O clock, our security forces received a credible report of a possible child abduction and they responded like they are trained to do," said Public Information Officer George Woodward.

In an effort to trap the suspect, security forces locked down the gates of the base as they conducted a base wide sweep. When the gates were re-opened, vehicles leaving the base were subject to a full search. Woodward said they were unable to find the suspect or a vehicle that matched the description they were given.

The alleged child abductor is described as a 6 foot 1 inch tall caucasian male wearing a white hat, white jacket with gray sleeves, white pants and driving a small black car with yellow plates.

"Young children should always be supervised by a trusted adult. Older children who are old enough to be without adult supervision should always try to travel in groups," said Woodward.

If anyone out there has any information about the alleged attempted child abduction, contact Sheppard Air Force Base Security Forces at (940) 676-2981.
