Preliminary Hearings For Teens

Posted: Updated:
Preliminary hearings are being held on Tuesday for the three Duncan teens accused of killing Chris Lane Last summer.  He was from Australia.

James Edwards, Chancey Luna, and Michael Jones are being held in Stephens County.  The hearings will determine if there is enough evidence for the teens to stand trial for the murder.

James Edwards was initially charged with First Degree Murder, but prosecutors added an additional count on Tuesday.  He is also charged with Accessory After The Fact.  Edwards also testified that Chancey Luna was the one who shot and killed Lane

A Judge delayed their hearings last November to give defense attorney’s more time to review the case.  Luna’s attorney had also asked to have the public and media barred from attending the proceedings.

Prosecutors said the three teens shot the 22-year-old as he jogged last August, because they were bored.
