MSU Announces 2014 Football Recruiting Class

Posted: Updated:

Midwestern State coach Bill Maskill unveiled a 2014 recruiting class heavy on offensive and defensive linemen following a furious day of activity Wednesday on National Signing Day.

The strong class of prospects includes 26 prep standouts who chose to continue their gridiron careers and play for the Mustangs.

"it's a smaller class, but I think it's a quality class," MSU coach Bill Maskill said. "These are good character kids and they are all capable of being the foundation for our program. I like this class. It's really solid from top to bottom."

The class includes 12 offensive position players including five offensive linemen, four running backs and three wide receivers, while 14 defensive position players fill out the class including nine defensive linemen, three cornerbacks, a safety and a linebacker.

Midwestern State finished its 14th consecutive winning season in 2013 with a 7-3 mark. During the run, the Mustangs advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs on six occasions, played in a Kanza Bowl and claimed Lone Star Conference championships in 2009, 2011 and 2012.
