Driver Leads Police on High Speed Chase in Burkburnett

Posted: Updated:

Coady Linker, 21, led Burkburnett police officers and Wichita County sheriff deputies on a high speed chase Saturday afternoon.

The chase began around 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Margaret and Kirk Street in Burkburnett. Linker had a warrant out for his arrest for violating parole. Burkburnett officers attempted to stop him but he failed to stop. He continued to drive for about 7 minutes past the Oklahoma border but that's where Oklahoma Highway Patrol was waiting for him. At that point Linker turned around and headed back towards Burkburnett.

Burkburnett police told our crews on scene that at one point in the chase, Linker topped speeds over 100 m.p.h.

Burkburnett officers and Wichita County deputies laid spike strips that punctured three of four tires on Linker's vehicle. The chase came to an end a little after 5 p.m. on 3rd street in Burkburnett.

Medical aid was offered at the scene but was not necessary.

Authorities have not released details on if there was any involvement of alcohol or drugs.

Linker could face charges of evading arrest among others.
