Saving Our Trees Seminar

With the drought so severe in Texoma, a "Saving Our Trees" seminar was held Saturday at the River Bend Nature Center.

Participants were joined by the Wichita Falls Parks Department along with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension service where they learned what they can do to keep trees from dying even with the lack of water.

The event was free and began at 9 a.m.

"We're talking about trees and the impact that the drought has had for the last several years on them. Trees are important to us because they are our foundation," said event organizer Tim Hunter.

The seminar featured certified arborists and a professional nurserymen who gave presentations on everything from soil moisture retention, insects, disease all the way to pruning.

Participants also got a Q & A session with the panel as well as a tree tour of the River Bend Nature Center.
