Iowa Park to Hire Snyder's Sims as New HC/AD

Iowa Park High School will turn to Snyder Head Football Coach Aubrey Sims as its new Head Coach and Athletic Director.

At a called meeting of the Iowa Park CISD board, Sims was unanimously approved to replace Scott Ponder, who left in January for Class 2A Bells.

Sims went 7-15 in two seasons at Snyder in District 4-3A, winning one playoff game this past fall.

Before that, he had a successful run at Grandview, OK, which is between Duncan and Waurika on Highway 81. His teams went 63-18, making the playoffs every year.

He inherits a Hawks team coming off three-straight losing seasons, with a combined record of 6-24, though they were 4-6 last season and showed some improvement.

They will play their first full season at the newly-renovated Hawk Stadium in the fall, after playing much of their 2013 home schedule on other fields around Texoma. They will be in the new District 1-4A Div. II, with Vernon, Bushland, Perryton and Dalhart.

Sims is set to be officially hired on March 13th.
