MSU Basketball in NCAA Tournament!

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Mustangs earn sixth straight NCAA II postseason appearance

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State received an at-large for their ninth NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament appearance as announced by the Men's Basketball Championship Committee Sunday night.

The three-time defending Lone Star Conference champion Mustangs are coming off of a Lone Star Conference postseason tournament final showing last weekend after claiming their eighth league title rolling through conference play with a 12-2 record. MSU (22-7) won 20 games for the sixth consecutive season.

The Mustangs as the No. 3 seed against Arkansas-Fort Smith (21-6) Saturday at the Auraria Event Center on the campus of Metro State University-Denver.

Other first round games include: No. 1-seed Metro State (28-1) against No. 8 Colorado-Colorado Springs (21-8), No. 2 Tarleton State (Texas) (27-2) versus No. 7 Texas A&M International (22-8) and No. 4 Colorado Mines (24-4) against No. 5 St. Mary's (Texas) (18-8).

The South Central Region champion advances to face the South Region winner in the Elite Eight on March 29 at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky.

Tournament ticket and schedule time information will be released early this week.
