Archer County Burn Ban Extended

Posted: Updated:
High fire danger and dry conditions across Texoma have forced many counties to issue burn bans or extend them.  Archer County is the latest county to extend their burn ban.

Archer County’s burn ban was scheduled to expire at 12:00a.m. on Thursday, but because of the dry conditions, they have extended the ban for 90 days.  The ban will begin on Thursday.

The order doesn’t prohibit outdoor burning activities related to public health and safety that is authorized by the Texas Natural Resources Commission for:
  • Firefighter training;
  • Public utility, natural gas pipeline, or mining operations;
  • Harvesting of agricultural crop;
  • Burns conducted by a prescribed burn manager
  • Welding is permitted with no restrictions;
  • Outdoor cooking or grilling is permitted only in an enclosed cooking container.
Under the burn ban, no outdoor burning of any type is allowed for residents.  If you are caught violating the order, you could be fined up to $500.
