Teens to Face Trial

Posted: Updated:
The two teenagers charged with First Degree Murder will face a trial in the shooting death of an Australian baseball player.

Police and prosecutors said the two teens targeted Christopher Lane, 22, in August 2013 because they were bored.  Chancey Luna, 16, and Michael Dewayne Jones, 18, were ordered to stand trial.  Persecutors said 16-year-old James Francis Edwards Jr. will testify against them and be charged with a lesser crime.

Edwards said Luna fired the deadly shot while Jones drove the three around town.  At an earlier hearing, Edwards testified that Luna and Jones both said they believed the gun used in the shooting had blanks.

Formal arraignments for both teenagers are set for March 20th.
