High Winds and Power Outages Hit Wichita Falls

High winds did more than blow trash around Wichita Falls on Sunday. They caused about 5,000 homes and businesses to be without power for much of the afternoon.

Most of the outages were near the Kemp and Maplewood area.  Some traffic lights were affected as well.  At the peak of outages, 6 separate incidents had workers hurrying to get the lights back on.

Power was restored to all those who did not have it by around 4:30 PM. The cause from an Oncor official was, a failed cable.
