NEW DEVELOPMENT: Accused Murderer's Trial Date Pushed Back

The trial of a man accused of a gruesome murder in Wichita Falls has been pushed back.

Jerry Joe Garza is now scheduled to face a jury beginning November 17, 2014. The trial was previously slated for late October.

This is the second delay in his trial, according to past reports aired on Newschannel 6. Garza was originally expected to be in court in April 2014, but a key investigator was not going to be available due to medical reasons.

Garza's trial will be held in McKinney, TX, which is the county seat for Collin County. The trial was given a change of venue in April.

Garza is facing trial on a Capitol Murder charge. Prosecutors believe he brutally murdered 32-year-old Monica Partida in her home on Britain Street in Wichita Falls in 2012. Autopsy records show Partida was suffocated and stabbed more than a dozen times.

Garza has acted out multiple times in court, even cursing and shouting at times. His actions even made headlines across the state when a Judge ordered Garza's mouth be covered in duct tape.

Garza has also reached out to Newschannel 6. He sent a handwritten letter from behind bars to Newschannel 6 in February 2014. In it, he claimed his rights were being violated.
