Nighthawks Unveil Fancy New Helmets

The Wichita Falls Nighthawks will be wearing some new lids this coming season, sharing something in common with many of the coolest designs you saw last college football season!

Tuesday night, they unveiled their new "CarbonHawk" helmet, the newest design for the Nighthawks and made by Hydrographics, the company that made the Shamrock-Series helmets for Notre Dame and Arizona State's matchup last fall at AT&T stadium, Many of Oregon's shiny helmets, and three different looks this past season for Texas A&M!

Tuesday night, Nighthawks owner and GM Jerry Hughes said it's not just about looks, either.

"This is the top helmet in the country right now," Hughes said. "It's the Schutt Vengeance. So, we're going safer, obviously going bolder and bigger. You know, that's what you've got to do. You can't go asleep at the wheel, so we're trying to put this team on the biggest map possible."

The new lids were modeled by a group of Nighthawk players including quarterback Omar Jacobs, and former Midwestern State QB-turned-receiver Brandon Kelsey.

The Nighthawks will open their first season in the Gridiron Developmental Football League on Saturday, May 31st at Memorial Stadium against the Texas Eagles.
