MSU Football Spring Game Saturday

Midwestern State football will hold its annual spring game Saturday at 5 p.m. at Memorial Stadium!

Pregame activities will begin at 4 p.m., with free t-shirts going to the first 500 fans in attendance.

On Wednesday, Mustangs Head Football Coach Bill Maskill said that after a very strong practice Sunday, the team had a bit of a letdown on Wednesday.

But, he says that is a normal occurrence.

"I look back in years past, and the scrimmage that we had last week, is about where we peak every time," Maskill said. "You know, we peaked last week, dipped a little bit today, and we'll be better tomorrow, and then we've got the spring game. So it'll be anxious to see how we do in game conditions."

Right now, senior quarterback Jake Glover has the inside track to the starting job. Maskill said his experience and knowledge of the offense give him the advantage, and he just needs to build more consistency.

Glover said even as the starter, he can't take anything for granted.

"You've always got to prove yourself," Glover said Thursday night. "There's never any time for moderation. You've always got to be striving to get better every day. Coach Austin always says, 'Get one percent better every day,' and that's what we strive to do."

Admission Saturday will be free. The team has bought 2,000 hot dogs which will be free. There will also be a Kids Zone with an appearance from Maverick T. Mustang, plus an MSU Bookstore with team gear available.
