Windthorst Duo Will Play in College

A pair of Windthorst Trojanette teammates signed together Thursday to play their sports at the next level.

Seniors Brooke Dillon and Logan Pennartz will be headed to different schools to play different sports, but they got to do one last thing together on Thursday.

Dillon will play volleyball at North Central Texas College in Gainesville, joining another Trojanette senior, Carli Clifton who signed in December.

Dillon, a middle hitter, averaged 3.62 kills per set as a senior and earned TGCA and TSWA All-State honors, plus District MVP and Regional Tournament MVP as the Trojanettes reached the Class A state championship game.

Pennartz will play softball at Grayson County College in nearby Denison. She was named TGCA All-State in 2013, batting .506 with an .806 slugging percentage.

This season she has improved on all of her numbers, hitting .614 to this point with an .824 slugging percentage and seven home runs to date.

She said her path to GCC began when a club teammate of hers was recruited there, and the coaches took notice of her, later offering her a full scholarship.

Both players said they were happy to sign together.

"It's really special to be signing with Logan," Dillon said. "Because we've been teammates throughout the years, and we're finally going to do our last thing together that we can."

"[Dillon]'s one of my best friends," Pennartz added. "We've always been friends, and we've played sports through our whole lives together. It's great. I love her."
