Man Charged for River Road Murder

One man has been charged with Capital Murder in connection with Sunday’s homicide on River Road.

William Maurice Hervey Junior is behind bars without bond.  Sheriff Deputies said the 21-year-old is accused of robbing Mark Auston Hawkins and then shooting him.

The Wichita County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicle they believe was used in this crime was also found as well as key evidence in the East Lynwood area of Wichita Falls.  

Wichita County Sheriff's deputies were called out to a home in the 2300 block of River Road just before noon Sunday. 
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies said 20-year-old Hawkins was found deceased lying on the front porch of the home. 

Deputy Melvin Joyner told Newschannel 6 Hawkins had a gunshot wound to the left side of his body under his arm.

 Hawkins body was sent to Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Officer for autopsy.
