An accident on Highway 82, just seven to eight miles outside of Seymour led to a semi truck driver's death.

Monday, around 4:00 p.m., a driver of a Chevy Tahoe traveling westbound on Highway 82 veered eastbound and collided with a semi truck.

"The semi abruptly caught fire and the driver was killed.  We hope on impact.  The driver of the Chevy Tahoe was air lifted to United Regional," said Baylor County Sheriff, Bob Elliot.

The accident happened right before a hill on Highway 82 in the no passing zone.

"Throughout the years, there have been a number of accidents on that spot," said Elliot.

As a result of the many accidents that have happened in this particular spot on Highway 82, Sheriff Elliot stresses paying attention while driving.

"So much of the time now-a-days people are on their cell phone, they're texting and they get their mind on something else besides their driving.  I can't blame the highways at all, but you can put all the blame on the drivers because they're not paying attention," said Elliot.

Sheriff Elliot sticks to the words he's been saying for years regarding driving.

"There are a lot of people in this world driving today that don't have any business driving because they do not respect the vehicle or the responsibilities of the vehicle," said Elliot.

The driver of the Chevy Tahoe was released from the hospital Tuesday.  The reason for why he veered into the Highway 82 eastbound lane is still unknown.

The mile marker of where this accident happened on Highway 82 will be in the Department of Public Safety report.  D.P.S. State Troopers are working diligently to identify the driver of the semi truck.

Monday's deadly accident is the second deadly accident in Baylor County within one week.
