Abundance Of Animals Seized In Wichita Falls

Posted: Updated:
The 1500 block of Lindal Drive in Wichita Falls, was very active Wednesday afternoon when the City of Wichita Falls Animal Services obtained over 50 dogs and cats from a man’s home.

Katrina Mitchell, Wichita Falls animal services administrator says the "large owner surrender situation" was a follow-up from a code enforcement warrant issued on Friday.

Authorities seized over twenty dogs and cats from another location owned by the same man.

The man responsible for the animals has been cooperating with authorities.

Mitchell said the man who was taken care of the animals thought he was doing what was best for the animals, but things seem to get out of hand.

Newschannel 6 spoke to neighbors standing by as authorizes seized animals.

One neighbor that lived across the street from the unidentified man’s home said he was a nice man.

Another neighbor said, he was nice man, but intentions were out of control.

Residents say when passing in front of the man’s home filled with overgrown bushes and trees; you could smell animal feces.

Neighbors believe the smell alone is what led authorities to come and seize animals.

Many neighbors say they knew the man had animals but never suspected he had as many animals that were taken.

Wichita Falls Police Department detectives have now taken over the investigation.
