Paul Baxter to Become Wildcats President/GM

Saying his 38 years as a professional hockey player or coach have left him "burned out," Wichita Falls Wildcats Head Coach and General Manager Paul Baxter announced Tuesday he is stepping down as coach.

He will continue with the organization, adding the title of President while keeping his GM duties.

Baxter was head coach of the Wildcats for three seasons with a 77-90-3 record, reaching the playoffs in his final year but being swept in the South Division semifinals by Amarillo.

The search for a replacement head coach has already begun, according to team co-owners Roy Davoult and Alex Shnayderman on Tuesday. They hope to name the new coach by the end of next week.

They also announced that assistant coach Chris Ceransky will return next season, while Nick Harper will seek other opportunities after being offered another role with the club.
