Crews Recover Drowning Victim

Dive crews have recovered the body of the drowning victim from Lake Elmer Thomas on Fort Sill.

The body of 28-year-old Pfc. Patrick Washington was recovered on Monday.  The accident happened on Saturday night.

According to officials, two soldiers were in a one person kayak that flipped.  One soldier made it to shore, but Washington didn’t.

Divers from the Lawton Police Department, Wichita Falls Police Department, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol have been assisting in the search.

The accident is still under investigation.
