Dive crews have recovered the body of the drowning victim from Lake Elmer Thomas on Fort Sill.

The body of 28-year-old P.F.C. Patrick Washington was recovered Monday.

The accident happened Saturday night. According to officials, two soldiers were in a one person kayak that flipped. Another solider made it shore, but Washington did not.

Washington is survived by a wife and two children, ages 5 years old and 5 months old. Fort Sill officials say he was a great person and a great solider and will be missed by the Fort Sill community.

Divers from the Lawton Police Department, Wichita Falls Police Department and Oklahoma Highway Patrol assisted in the search.

The accident is still under investigation.
