City Elections 2014: Electra Mayor

City Elections 2014: Electra Mayor

Electra residents have two days to decide between the two candidates running for mayor. Curtis Warner is the incumbent seeking a second term re-election over his opponent Bill Davis. Both candidates agree that water is the top issue for their town, but not the only issue that needs to be addressed.

"I want to make it a cleaner town Electra is an old town and old towns collect stuff that is no longer of any value. We tore down forty or fifty houses level the lights turned them over to the property managers on either side in some cases made them available for a gift," said Electra Mayor Curtis Warner.

Bill Davis said that the amount of abandoning buildings and lots have become Electra eye soars around town.

"I just want to see them build something on it, put it back on the tax rolls, however we can and get a little money out of it if we get the right kind building on it a house or a business or something it's got to help the little ole town," said Davis.

Davis said that he wants to address the town water issues too.

"We have a good field were going to have to redo it and get that back up online. We can consolidate our water with the Wichita Falls kind of like Burkburnett is making use a little good water mixed with a little city water make us go further," said Davis.

In downtown Electra just off Cleveland Street I met Electra native Edna Talley, who told me she has cast her ballot during early voting last week.

"I voted for Bill because I feel Bill will listen to the people. In the past, I've had the feeling that even though we've got petitions up and gone before the commission and asked things they have ignored the things that we have asked of them," said Talley.

Newschannel 6 will be in Electra Saturday, May 10th with full coverage of both the school bond and mayor elections.
