MSU Places Two on Daktronics All-Region Softball Team

Midwestern State's Kim Jerrick and Katelyn Vinson garnered Daktronics All-South Central Region honors for the second consecutive season as released by the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors of America.

Jerrick earned first-team honors after hitting .352 with 10 doubles, 16 homers and 39 RBIs while stealing a career-high 27 bases.

The four-time All-Lone Star Conference performer matched the league's all-time home run record finishing her stellar career with 56 long balls.

Jerrick also finishes as MSU's all time leader with 225 runs and 469 total bases. She is one of the few catchers in NCAA Division II history to finish a career with 56 homers and 56 stolen bases.

The senior from Belle Plaine, Kan. earned National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association Division II Catcher of the Year honors in 2013 while gaining first-team All-America mention from Daktronics and NFCA.

Vinson garnered second-team honors after hitting .400 with nine doubles and 13 home runs while driving in 56 runs despite missing 14 starts due to injury

The sophomore from Southlake was tabbed Daktronics South Central Region Player of the Year last season after hitting .503 with 22 homers and 67 RBIs. She garnered NFCA first-team All-America status and garnered Daktronics third-team mention.

Vinson is a two-time All-LSC performer and was named to the league's all-academic squad this season.

As a first-teamer, Jerrick moves on to the Daktronics All-America ballot.

Midwestern State posted a 31-24 mark this season advancing to the NCAA Division II postseason for the ninth time in the program's 11-year history.

The NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association All-America teams in football, men's soccer, women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball and softball are sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The Holliday Eagles won 7 games a year ago, but 6 of those wins came by a touchdown or less. They're hoping a new addition can help them breathe a little easier in the 4th quarter this year
