Texas Smoker Heading To Henrietta

Posted: Updated:
A new travel center in Henrietta is moving along.

The $4.5 million project will bring jobs with it.

Monday night the Henrietta City Council approved a request to apply for some monetary help.

That help is a $257,000 grant from the Texas Capital Fund. That money will pay for a water line to that area.

Members of the public got a chance to comment at the meeting out about the center, called Texas Best Smoker. Those comments were all positive.

Henrietta Growth Corporation Economic Development Director Rick Langford said, " We've heard no negative comments what so ever some curious questions to those that its going to directly effect, but I've heard no negative comments whatsoever from anyone in the public sector."

Texas Best Smoker will include restaurants and fuel pumps. It is also guaranteed to bring with it, at least 20 full time jobs.

Dirt is set to move in 90 days.

City officials hope to officially open the center to the public by the end of the year..

The travel center will be located on US 287 South and Highway 148 in Henrietta.
