Hike & Bike Trial Upgrades

Posted: Updated:
The City of Wichita Falls is adding some new features to the Hike & Bike Trial.
Ten high security bike racks and three fix-it-stations are being installed. It's a collaboration between the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District's Transforming Texas Program, the City of Wichita Falls Traffic Division and the City of Wichita Falls Parks and Recreation Department.

The new equipment is sponsored by the Texas Department of State Health Services with funding provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Community Transformation Grant. The bike racks will be placed throughout the City's Circle Trail System and other popular bicycling areas in the City and will provide a safe, secure place for temporary bike storage. The three "fix-it" stations will be placed at three locations on the Circle Trail: Jalonick Park, Hamilton Park, and Lake Wichita Park. The stations will provide a safe, convenient place for trail users to perform minor repairs on their bikes.

One of the many objectives is to increase opportunities for physical activity and encourage active living. For questions please contact Will Carter at 761-7838 or Mark Beauchamp at 761-7643.
