Stop To Remember

All across the country and here in Texoma people paid tribute to America’s fallen heroes.

On Monday, at Crestview Memorial Cemetery veterans held a ceremony and over 30 volunteer’s places flags over 3,000 flags on the graves of the fallen.

"The fore-fathers do this all over the country. We're blessed to have a group of Americans here that take great pride in being Wichita Falls veterans,” said Jeannine Donaldson, Secretary Treasurer for the American Legion Unit 169.

Donaldson said the American Legion has been honoring their brethren for over 50 years.

Fairy Beck, a widow, said her husband Corporal Alfred Clyde Beck was one of them. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

“He was the love of my life. We we're married for 48-years,” said Beck.

Beck said since his death in 1999, she has never parted ways. Each year she said comes to back to show her love endures.

"I always come out here even after they pick up the flags,” said Beck.

An honor, Beck and veterans here in Wichita Falls do not take likely.

"I commend them for it and they probably don't get enough recognition,” said Beck.

"Because we live in the United States of America that inbred pride in all of us and we need to say thank you to the active duty military and we also need to pay respect to those who have gone before us,” said Donaldson.
