Three Bearcat Seniors Headed to College!

Posted: Updated:
Three Henrietta High School seniors signed Tuesday night to play their sports at the next level!

Two of them will be playing baseball, and two will be heading to Wayland Baptist, but you may need a Venn diagram to figure it out:

Turner Gibbs will be the lone football player out of the group; he's heading to Wayland, where he'll be joined by baseball signee Aaron Whitehead.

The other baseball signee is Parker Kleinert, who will play for Arlington Baptist College.

Kleinert was District 8-2A Offensive MVP his senior season after being named 2nd-team All-District at shortstop his junior year.  He said he'd wanted to attend Arlington Baptist since he was five years old, having a long-running connection to the school through his church.

He said it was great to be able to be a part of Henrietta High School's first-ever group signing ceremony.

"I love signing with them," Kleinert said. "Both of them are two of my closest friends. So it's just really enjoyable having them here with me."

Whitehead is a two-time first-team all-District 8-2A selection as an outfielder but expects to pitch in Plainview.

He and Gibbs are both excited they'll be able to go off to college together, even if they're playing different sports.

"It's pretty amazing," Whitehead said Tuesday night. "I mean, it's been our dream ever since we were little to go play college ball and now we get to experience it."

Gibbs agreed: "Feels really good that I get to keep doing what I love, and I get to go to the same college my friend is going to. It's really special, makes it less nerve-wracking to do it."
