Petrolia Falls in State Semifinals

The Petrolia Lady Pirates fell to top-ranked Weimar 6-0 Wednesday at the Class 1A State Softball Tournament in Austin.

The Lady Pirates were able to manage only three hits against Weimar pitcher Kendall Marek, and were only able to put multiple runners on base at the same time once, in the 7th inning.

Weimar jumped on top in the first inning, scoring two runs on two hits.

The Ladycats added another run in the third on a walk and a double, then the big blow came in the fifth when Hunter Ervin hit a two-run home run, then Weimar added a sixth run on a double and an RBI single.

Petrolia got doubles in the second from Katie Cummings and in the seventh from Ryanne Macklin, plus an infield single in the seventh from Coty Chase, but could never get a run home.

The Lady. Pirates finish the season with a record of 27-6-1.
