Iowa Park Rolls Past Pirates, 11-1 in Game 1

The #7 Iowa Park Hawks soared past Lubbock Cooper Wednesday night, winning 11-1 in five innings in Game 1 of the Region I-3A Final at McMurry University's Driggers Field in Abilene.

Dalton Klasse drove in three runs, while Landen Kimbro recorded three hits to lead the offense.

Rody Johnson, pitching on his future collegiate home mound, recorded all three of his strikeouts in the third inning, while allowing just one run on five hits over five innings of work for the win.

Game two will begin Friday at 5 p.m. at Driggers Field, with Game three to follow 30 minutes after its completion, if necessary.

With one win Friday, the Hawks would advance to the State Tournament for the first time since 2001.

None of the other Regional Finals have begun yet.

In Region II, North Lamar will meet #3 Argyle starting Thursday night at 8 p.m. at McKinney Boyd.

In Region III, Silsbee will play #1 College Station in a one-game series Thursday at 7:30 at the University of Houston.

And in Region IV, #5 Sinton faces #10 Hidalgo in a best-of-three series starting Friday at 7:30 in Edinburg.
