Raymond Slagle Trial

Raymond Slagle Trial

The jury selection process has begun for Raymond Slagle who's facing three counts of aggravated sexual assault and two counts of child indecency. The 66 year old Slagle is alleged to have sexually abused a child over the span of five years. Slagle was arrested on October 23rd, 2012.

Monday, prosecutors questioned 72 potential jurors on issues involving sexual assault. A majority of the jurors said they would lean more towards punishment over rehabilitation if Slagle is found guilty. The majority of the jury was also questioned on how they felt about child witnesses and outcry witness testimony.

The remaining 72 jury pool was also briefed on what their duty as jurors would be. The jurors were made aware that they were required to be impartial and fair when looking at the case. There were many questions regarding jury integrity.

At 4:00 the jurors were allowed to leave the 30th District Court of Wichita County and asked to reconvene Tuesday at 9:30 in the morning. Stay with Newschannel 6 for all the latest updates and information on this trial.
