Soap Box Derby

The Soap Box Derby will hit the streets on June 28, 2014. The races are for adults and children, both will race down the 9th Street hill in front of the Downtown YMCA.

The Soap Box Derby event includes three divisions. The first is “super stock,” for children ages 7-12. The second is “super kids,” a derby division designed for special needs children, ages 7-12.

The third division is the “build your own” for individuals ages 14 and older. This division gives individuals, families, and social groups a chance to race creative cars they build themselves.

Now is the time to start building those cars. The event will also have a car show, live music, BMX demonstrations and vendors. The public is invited to come out for free family activities. There will be bounce houses and face painting for the kids. Live music will start at noon and end at 5 p.m.

Soap box riders need to register by June 13. You also must register for the car show. You can register for both on the website.
