Gas Prices Expected To Go Through The Roof

Posted: Updated:
Wichita Falls, TX - Gas prices are up 14 cents from this time last year and oil officials say the on-going conflict in Iraq and Syria could be to blame.

Texas is one of the largest producers of oil in the world which gives us an edge when relying on foreign oil.

Alex Mills, The President of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers says this year’s oil production in Texas will help keep prices lower than other states without it.

“One would suspect that there would be more pressure upward on crude oil prices with the tension that is going on in the Middle East,” said Mills.

Mills says this production will help protect us from the current conflict going on in Iraq. Even though Texas gas prices might rise, those prices will not be as volatile as they have been in previous years.

According to the Energy Information Administration, Iraq is the 3rd largest exporter of oil in the world.

Mills says the pressure is on for the price of crude oil, but believes Texas production will keep prices lower than in the past.
