Suspect Identified In Officer Involved Shooting

Wichita Falls Police have identified the man who was shot by a police officer last week.

Roy Philip Johnson is still in the hospital after undergoing surgery.

Last Thursday, Wichita Falls Police were called out to a disturbance at  the High Point Village Apartments around 10:25p.m.  Police said when the officers arrived on the scene they could hear arguing going on inside the apartment.

Officers were able to get into the apartment after a woman inside was able to open the door.  However, Johnson was pointing a gun at the officer.  The officer immediately pushed the woman out of the way and fired one shot.  Johnson was taken to the hospital.

Internal Affairs and police are investigating this case

The officer involved still remains on administrative leave.
