Move Over, Slow Down

Lot's of people are going to be on the roads during the holiday weekend.

The Texas Department of Public Safety wants to remind everyone about being careful on the roads.

They are putting emphasis on the "Move Over, Slow Down" law.  If you see an emergency vehicle stopped on the side of the road, you can either change lanes or reduce your speed.  You are required to be 20 mph below the speed limit.

The emergency vehicles protected by the law include police, fire, EMS, TXDOT and tow truck vehicles.  If you don't follow the law, you could face fines up to $200.  The punishment could be more severe if there is property damage or injury.
