WFHS Coach Johnson Steps Down

Wichita Falls High School baseball coach Rob Johnson stepped down Monday, to take over as an assistant principal at Washington-Jackson Elementary School.

Johnson won 151 games in nine seasons as head coach of the Coyotes, leading them to three district championships including the outright title in 2014, their first in 20 years. His win total is second in school history to Wendell Carroll.

His stepson, Garron Bates, graduated after this season and will be playing at Stephen F. Austin next spring.

Johnson and former Rider coaches Kerry Hargrove and Scot Green are also involved in the newly-opened Falls Baseball Academy, keeping them involved in the game.
