MSU's Oland Qualifies for Another Prestigious Tournament!

Midwestern State University golfer Derek Oland is showing that his strong junior season was no fluke, qualifying for his second prestigious tournament of the summer.

Oland defeated a field of 70 players of all ages to win a qualifier for the U.S. Amateur Championship, which will be played August 11-17 just outside Atlanta, Ga.

Oland shot rounds of 67 and 69 in the 36-hole event at the Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club in Keller, earning top medalist honors.

The U.S. Amateur is a week-long event that combines two rounds of stroke play with six rounds of match play to determine an overall champion, who will receive exemptions to the U.S. Open, Masters and the Open Championship!

Earlier this summer, Oland won another sectional qualifier for the Southern Amateur, which will be played July 16-19 just outside Chattanooga, Tenn.
