Deputy Involved Shooting in Electra

At 4:00 Saturday afternoon, two Wichita County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 100 block of Prairie Circle in Electra for a family disturbance.

While in route, the suspect matching the description was spotted by a Sheriff’s Deputies on the 500 block of West Avenue.

The suspect began fighting with a deputy, trying to grab his gun.

When another deputy arrived at the scene, he ordered the suspect to leave the gun alone.

The deputy then fired shots,  striking the suspect in the mid section.

The suspect is at United Regional Hospital for observation and is in stable condition with no major injuries.

The suspect is 21-years old and he is known to the Electra Police Department as well as the Wichita County Sheriff’s Deputies.  According to deputies, the suspect has been handled many times for different offenses, some including disorderly conduct, assault, criminal trespass, retaliation and interfering with an emergency telephone call.

The suspect will probably be charged with attempted capitol murder of a peace officer.
