Police said only one of the five victims involved in a crash early Sunday morning was wearing a seat belt.
The Wichita Falls Police Department said in a release early Monday that an 18-year-old was driving an SUV east on Kell Freeway in Wichita Falls around 1:00a.m. He lost control of the vehicle and ran into a grass median. The SUV flipped multiple times before coming to a stop on the westbound lanes of Kell Freeway.
Police said speed and failure to maintain one lane is a contributing factor to the accident.
Officials said every in the vehicle was ejected. There were four passengers in the vehicle. The driver was airlifted to Dallas.
A 17-year-old passenger was the only one wearing a seat belt.
On Monday afternoon United Regional Officials said Lakarl Williams, 18, died from his injuries from the accident.
The injuries and conditions of the others aren't known at this time.
